My WorldFest Journey / Thank you Malaysian Society

It was almost a month ago after I watched my friend performing at the Malaysian Night: Elis in Wonderland, which gave me knowledge of Malaysian culture through a fun drama. Their races are divided into 3, Indian, Malaysian and Chinese. They all perform very well, but when the Chinese Fan Dance performed on stage, I watched while my mouth slightly agape with all of the excitement on my head. My eyes widened in horror and I silently mumbled, “I’d never expected the dance to be as good as this.” It was just simply beautiful and astonishing.

By then I realized that I really want to do something that I have never been done before, which is dancing. So I joined the Malaysian Worldfest Group and suddenly saw a post from one of the Chinese fan dance members saying that they need two more people to cover up the spaces, as the old members couldn’t perform during the day. Without any moment, I replied saying that I really interested to join, and I was accepted.

My dancing practice journey began on a day before valentine, February 13th 2012 and by then, I started to have an intensive dancing practice within approximately 2 weeks until the Worldfest on Sunday, as all of other members have been practicing for about 3 months and I really need to catch up and learn all the moves perfectly. It was so tiring, but it was fun. There was this brief moment of just pure joy, determination and clarity in mind, happiness, and persistence within me as I was practicing Chinese Fan Dance. I had nothing else in my mind; I really wanted to master the dance.

Right on the day after I was performing on the stage, I felt content and a bit sad. I knew this is my only lifetime chance performing with the Malaysian Society Crew. I am going to miss them, and especially my fan. Nevertheless, we won the most polish and professional award. Thus, at this moment, I felt like all the hard work I’ve done, the effort I’ve put into it and the time I’ve spend, it’s all paid of and so I believe on one philosophy of “Work Hard, Play Hard”.

Congratulations, Malaysian Society. We Did It ! Thank you for giving me the best moment of my life and the experiences that I will carry throughout my life. You guys really rock my life and I am glad to get involved with you guys..

PS: Special thanks to Low Ichin ( My dancing teacher and the most patient person I have ever met! lol)

You all will be missed!

Loves and Hugs,
